Grabbing a file that was deleted a year ago isn't doable at all in many cases or not practical in others. Our normal backups have a pretty tight window of recovery. So a file missed here or there really doesn't matter. In this use case, that is almost never an issue as these backups are really just another layer on top of existing backups. The only failures we ever get once its setup is usually complaints about open files when backing up over the network. We've had it running at a few clients for several years with zero intervention other than occasionally doing updates or tweaking shares that are backed up. In this kind of setup it has been just dead simple and reliable. A fair bit of control to help manage costs etc. You can tell it how many versions of files to keep and how long to wait until deleting them etc. We can control bandwidth nicely so its gentle during business hours and a fire hose after work. We point it directly at network shares, SQL backups, even the some VIP PCs via the admin share and funnel it out to Amazon. We pick up a copy of Backup Ultimate Edition and use that on a single server in a clients location to grab whatever data they have and send it offsite. For the most part, it is unnecessary to do that unless you did deliberately modify data in the cloud. Optionally, select the sync before run checkbox if you have changed the data in the cloud somehow. You can either restore the latest version or "go back in time" and restore a version that was considered the latest at the specified point in time. Next, specify which version should be restored. Select the backup plan that contains the backup data and click Continue. in case of you prefer to save this plan, enter the plan name that will be displayed throughout the app and click Continue. Specify whether this restore plan should be saved or whether one restoration is sufficient. Select the backup storage that contains the backup data and click Continue. Similar to backup plans, a restore plan can be performed either once or be scheduled to start recurringly.
